Alanna and Joseph invited me out to Joseph’s grandmother’s ranch in the rolling hills of Lincoln, CA.  Immediately, it was easy to see why they had wanted to come here for their engagement session.  There were an endless amount of gorgeous locations for their pictures.  This location also holds a special place in their hearts. They brought along their two best friends too, Olive and Martini.  Their puppy dogs may have been a highlight in their session for me and it is always nice to have your dogs with you.  🐶  You can view more engagements sessions here.

How They Met

Alanna and Joseph first met at the local county fair one night.  They did not necessarily hit it off right away.  A friend that was trying to set them up was shocked to learn that neither one of them chatted with each other.   The timing was just not right for them at that time.  The next time they were together, Alanna claims that Joseph was shy and they barely spoke a word.  In the final round, one of Alanna’s students thought that Joseph would be the perfect match for her.  The student had his mother call Alanna to arrange the date.  Joseph took Alanna to The Dancing Tomato for their first date.

The Proposal

Alanna and Joseph had been dating for over a year when Joseph had prepped Alanna to not expect a proposal on their trip to Morro Bay because he was still extremely busy with his work season.  They had a tradition of walking and talking on the beach, so when Joseph suggested that they end their trip with the walk, Alanna did not think anything of it.  Joseph had been walking quicker than usual and Alanna felt like she was lagging behind.  She also noticed that his responses were more distant “uh huhs” than him having a conversation.  Joseph wanted to take a picture with Alanna and he asked her to stay in the spot while he asked a couple to take their picture.  Alanna is usually the outgoing one to ask for a picture, so she was thinking that he may be up to something.  Alanna remembers Joseph and the couple laughing and she was ready to approach them because she was just standing there waiting for his return.  When Joseph returned from talking to the couple, he had a huge smile on his face.  From there, he expressed his love and asked Alanna to marry him.  She said yes!

Alanna and Joseph, thank you for trusting me with your engagement session at this very special location.  Your doggies did amazing with the camera on them, but you two rocked it! The love between the two of you was easy to see.  You were comfortable in each other’s arms, your smiles, and giggles were non-stop throughout your session.  You are officially ready for your wedding day pictures.  It was wonderful to meet you two in person! We are living in a crazy time, but you two are so lucky to have each other to steady you on the wild days.  I cannot wait for your March wedding.
