Katie + Paul Upper Bidwell Park
Katie and Paul’s engagement session fell perfectly between the rain. They only had a few puddles to leap over during their session. Good thing Katie opted for the shoes with a wider heel or her heel may have been disappearing into the wet earth. These two came to town early to prepare for their session and to enjoy a cup of coffee together. There is nothing better than spending the day relaxing with your fiancé. How They Met
Katie was visiting Chico and her dating app detected that she and Paul were in the same area and they matched up. They started to message each other to get to know one another. For their first date, Katie was back home and she suggested that she meet Paul part of the way because of the distance she was from Chico, but Paul insisted that he pick her up. They went to the Lazy Dog Restaurant in Roseville for dinner and then they continued to chat for hours into the night. Paul knew from that first date with Katie that she was the one.
The Proposal
Katie and Paul recently survived a busy harvest season and they went to the coast to celebrate. They visited the town of Trinidad and they went out to explore the area with a hike. Paul was hoping to propose on the beach and talked Katie into going there. He asked Katie for help with the self-timer on his phone and after she left, he secretly switched the mode to video. He captured the whole proposal on his phone and Katie said yes!
Katie and Paul, you two are officially at professional status for your wedding day! You rocked your engagement session and you made my afternoon so much fun! I am so happy Mother Nature allowed for your engagement session to sneak in with a break from the storms. It is easy to see the love you two share for each other. You are comfortable when pulled in close and you stole numerous kisses during your session. The laughter and smiles on your faces made it a pleasure to be in your company and this gave you some amazingly genuine pictures too! […] Paul proposed to Katie in November 2020. At that time, the world was in the middle of a pandemic, and only intimate micro weddings were happening. Katie approached her soon-to-be father-in-law and asked if they could get married in the barn on his family’s property. Her soon-to-be father-in-law laughed at the thought, because the barn was nowhere near looking like a wedding venue. He asked Katie, “You want to get married here?”. With the help of family and friends, you would have never guessed that months ago this was a working barn. The Butler Ranch barn now has been transformed into an exquisite wedding venue!
