The Camp Fire broke out on November 8, 2018.  This was our final day at Disneyland.  As we were getting ready in the morning, we heard from a friend that a fire had broken out in Paradise.  We initially did not think much of it as we figured it would be put out and probably not cause any damage.  As the day progressed, we continued to hear from more friends about the fire; and then it was now showing up all over our social media feeds.  By the evening, we were on the phone with neighbors who were evacuating Chico to be safe.  We had next-door neighbors lined up to pack up our animals if they thought it was necessary to leave the area.  We were not sure what to expect as we drove home from the happiest place on earth and into doomsday.  It never felt right to share our adventures in Disneyland when our family and friends lost their homes.  The first anniversary of the Camp Fire is quickly approaching, and I set a goal to share our vacation before this date arrived.

We started the vacation off with an out-of-town gymnastics meet.  We decided very last minute to not return home from the meet and to continue our travel down to Disneyland the day following the meet.  Have you ever had one of those dreams where you are leaving for Hawaii that very moment, but realized you still need to pack?  I was living this dream.  We met my mom down in Los Angeles for this Disneyland adventure.  (She opted out of the 351 stops that we have to make on road trips.)  If you do not know this already, Farmer J and I LOVE Disneyland!  We truly believe that this is the happiest place on earth!  There is so much magic, and memories are constantly being created.  (Farmer J just saw me working on this blog post, and he said that we need to go back.)  We arrived just after Halloween.  It was fun to detect which holiday decorations disappeared and which were new within the past 10 hours.

Farmer J’s favorite ride since he was a kid is still Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Yogi and I loved the new Incredicoaster.  B loved Splash Mountain.  She and Farmer J met us for dinner after going on the ride, and Farmer J was soaked from head to toe!  B was dry because Farmer J was in the front seat, and she used him as a shield.  Fish loved Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.  She probably went on it thirty times while we all rotated through going on the Incredicoaster for the first time.  I had never been on Indiana Jones before this trip, I finally was able to experience the thrill of the jeep ride, twice!
