The wind was whipping in the open areas on this early morning for a fall family portrait session.  The temperature was not chilly, but the wind was enough to make you want to cuddle up in a blanket.  Cindy was the first arrive, and she opted to wait in her car until the rest of her family arrived.  Pat’s family arrived first, and we started with their individual family portraits until Matt’s family arrived and Cindy walked them to meet us.

I learned that when Pat and Matt were children, Cindy used to get the family all dressed up; and she would not tell Pat where they were going.  He would realize there was a wrong turn made and scream “Oh no!  We are not going to have our pictures taken, are we?”  Young Pat was furious that he got tricked into portraits.  We all laughed at this memory; and this then gave Cindy and her sons, Pat and Matt, beautiful, genuine smiles.  I would have never guessed that Pat did not like having his picture taken, because he made my job easy!  Matt even suggested that they get a picture of just the two of them, Matt and Pat.  Pat put up some resistance, and all Matt had to say was “because Mom will like it.”  Pat easily gave in.  The love and value they have for their family is easy to see.

Cindy and family, I absolutely loved having the opportunity to capture your family.  You have the sweetest family that was willing to get up early and get your young children dressed up.  I loved recreating the walking picture that Clark had with the boys when they were young.  These are the special moments that remind me why I love photographing families.  I hope you cherish these pictures for years to come, and I hope you pull them out for your children’s future graduation and wedding days.
