Karen + Steven Grass Field
Karen and Steven celebrated their love with an engagement session on a hot Chico day. You would have never guessed it was during our last heat wave, because of how in love these two are. Stephen’s talented sister made a beautiful cake for them to slice and enjoy during their session. If you are planning an engagement or portrait session, I highly recommend that you bring a personal cake to celebrate! It was the perfect addition to their session. How They Met
Karen and Steven are both locals, and they went to elementary and middle schools together. They were acquaintances from school. They went to separate high schools; and when they were in college, their paths crossed again. They started to meet at the park, played frisbee together, and then spent multiple hours chatting afterward.
The Proposal
After graduating from college, Karen and Steven moved to Wisconsin. The white winters were new and exciting for these Californians, and they went on lots of walks in the snow together. One evening, they stopped by their favorite decorated house with light music playing; and they took in all of the magical Christmas feelings. The Christmas lights were on a timer and kicked off at 10 PM. Karen turned to leave. Steven stopped her and professed his love to her and asked her to marry him. She said yes!
Karen and Steven, thank you for trusting me with your engagement session. I loved capturing you during this chapter of your love story. You two are an amazing couple. It was easy to see how comfortable you are in each other’s arms and how easily you laughed together. You would have never guessed it was a blazing hot day, because of how much fun you two had together. I am excited for you to see some of my many favorites from your engagement session in my favorite grass field!

[…] It was a sunny spring-like day upon arrival at Karen and Steven’s wedding day at Irogate Garden Inn. It was during bridal party pictures before the ceremony that we heard the first crack of thunder in the distance while the sunshine still shone on us. Just as the ceremony began, the rain started with thunder echoing in the sky. By the end of the ceremony, all umbrellas were up and in use, as the bride and groom exchanged their vows in the company of their family and friends.
