Lauren and Shane felt that Upper Bidwell Park was the perfect location for their engagement session, because this is a location that is close to their hearts.  When they are in Chico, they often come to the park to explore.  Their dog, Fox, also is a huge fan of the park.  He made an appearance in their session too!  You can view more engagement sessions here.

How They Met

Lauren and Shane originally met in Downtown Chico on a night out on the town with their own friends. They ended up bumping into each other on the dance floor. When they took a break from the dance floor, they got to talking and realized that they truly had a connection. Their first date was to Sin of Cortez in Chico. Lauren is a local Chicoan, so she decided to take Shane outside of the college area and give him a new Chico experience.  Once these two met and hit it off, Lauren knew that Shane was a keeper!

The Proposal

Shane had surprised Lauren one day and asked her to pack an overnight bag. Shane had just gotten a new job, and she figured this was to celebrate.  Shane had rented a gorgeous Airbnb in Monterey Canyon, close to the ocean. Not only was it a spectacular house, but it had an amazing terrace that looked out into the canyon. Shane had taken Lauren out to a very nice Italian restaurant, and the thought of him proposing had popped into her mind. When he did not, Lauren figured it was not happening on that day. They returned back to the Airbnb; and as they were out on the terrace enjoying the views during the beautiful golden hour glow, Shane got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. She said yes!  Right as Shane got down on one knee, a gospel started to sing!  Shane claims he did not set this up, but the timing could not have been better for the gospel choir to start their practice in the canyon!

Lauren and Shane, it was wonderful to have officially met you, hug you, and laugh with you throughout your session.  You two were amazing sports for enduring the windy conditions, but I think it added something special to your pictures.  You two embraced the moment, and it allowed for some extra giggles.  You two are the perfect match for each other.  It was easy to see how comfortable you were in one another’s arms and how easily you laughed together.  I am looking forward to your June wedding.  I am so excited for you to see some of my many favorites from your engagement session.
