Ashley and Rhett traveled up to Chico for their engagement session in Upper Bidwell Park.  I first met Ashley and Rhett at Haylee and Derek’s wedding earlier this year. Haylee is Rhett’s sister.  I learned of Ashley and Rhett’s engagement while the ladies were getting ready in the bridal suite.  You can view Haley and Derek’s wedding here. Ashley and Rhett will be professionals at weddings and pictures by their October wedding.

How They Met

Ashley and Rhett first met through Facebook.  They messaged back and forth often.  Whenever Rhett would ask Ashley out on a date, Ashley would get nervous and cancel, sometimes minutes before the date should have started.  Rhett was persistent and continued to message to Ashley.  Rhett was away on a vacation, and Ashley mentioned that he should bring her back something from his trip. Rhett won over Ashley’s heart when he returned with a camellia flower in a vase (Starbucks cup from the airport).  They have been dating for five years.

The Proposal

Ashley and Rhett traveled to the Leviathan Peak on Monitor Pass to photograph the changing colors of the Aspens.  It was an extremely windy day, so Ashley took a seat on a rock to ground herself.  After many attempts to get Ashley to stand up, Rhett finally told her, “You are going to want to stand up for this” as he dropped down to one knee.  Ashley started crying into her hands, and it took her a couple of minutes before she responded with a yes!

Ashley and Rhett, I am so happy you two made the trip to Chico for your engagement pictures. You two are naturals and will rock your wedding day pictures. I felt like I was hanging out with two friends (three, plus Haylee)!  Somehow it did not feel like it was 100* in Upper Bidwell Park.  That must have been because we were having too much fun!  I can see how great your relationship is by how you two communicate, giggle, and pull each other in close.
