I was down near the creek as I saw their car pull up into the parking lot at the Honey Run Covered Bridge, just outside of Chico. One child hopped out of the car and safely crossed the parking lot to explore the Covered Bridge. Another child stepped out of the car and ran to catch up to his big sister who was already in the bridge. As I approached to greet them, the children were walking back towards the car with their father, Kyle. He told his wife, Heather, that he smelled the creek! That was all it took for him to be convinced that they were going to be moving back to live up in the canyon!
I learned that before Heather and Kyle had children, they lived up the road from the Honey Run Covered Bridge. When scheduling their family portrait session, Heather knew this was the location she wanted their pictures taken. This location holds a close spot in their hearts. They had no hesitation walking through the grass, hiking down to the creek, and bounding from rock to rock. We even took a couple rock climbing breaks!
Kyle’s parents were in town for their granddaughter’s theatrical performance that weekend. Their grandfather may not have been expecting to work during his travels, but he did an amazing job at blocking the light with a reflector. He may need to be hired to assist me in future sessions! The grandparents were not planning on being in the pictures, but they were able to take a picture with their grandchildren. To view more family sessions at the Honey Run Covered Bridge, please check out Michelle and Jared, Belle and Brad, and Gram and Papa.
Heather and Kyle, deciding to pass on muddy trails and high brown waters for blue skies and sunshine was definitely a good trade! The location and weather were as gorgeous as could be. It was a joy getting to spend the afternoon with your family. Your children were so sweet, respectful, and great listeners. I am so happy that I was able to capture these moments for you. I hope you enjoy seeing these pictures on your walls for years to come!
