Alexis and Kyle drove up to Chico for their engagement session in Upper Bidwell Park.  They stepped out of the car looking stunning!  Their wardrobe looked beautiful with the natural environment, and their floral bouquet was vibrant with color.  The timing was perfect to capture all of Bidwell Park’s beauty and the love Alexis and Kyle share.  You can see more recent engagement sessions: Abigail + Dalton, Jessekah + Andy, and Rubie + Ryan.

How They Met

Alexis and Kyle met at work.  On Alexis‘ first day of work, the boss showed her around; and when she met Kyle, she thought “Ohh, he is cute!”.  Alexis was currently in a relationship with someone else at the time, so dating Kyle was not an option.  Kyle and Alexis emailed back and forth frequently, and they flirted with one another.  Alexis found herself confiding in Kyle quite often.  As things were starting to go south with Alexis’ boyfriend, Kyle tried to keep a level head to give Alexis good advice while he may have been interested in dating her.  For their first date, Alexis and Kyle went floating down the American River in Sacramento.  That same day, Kyle asked Alexis to be his girlfriend.  They both knew each other well, and they were excited to move forward with their relationship.  Just a few months later, Kyle invited Alexis to Hawaii for his family’s vacation.  Once they returned from Hawaii, Kyle asked Alexis to move in with him.

The Proposal

Alexis and Kyle have the tradition of cutting down their Christmas tree.  The weekend after Thanksgiving 2017, Kyle prepared to propose to Alexis when they selected their tree. They both did a full circle around the tree to confirm this was their pick for this year.  Kyle was sawing the tree with his back to Alexis, so that when she circled the tree she would see Kyle down on one knee.  Alexis only saw that he had a saw in his hand though, and she thought that Kyle was going to ask her to cut down the Christmas tree.  Kyle showed her the ring; and she thought he was kidding until he used her full name.  Everything then started to make sense as Kyle asked her to marry him.  She said yes!

Alexis and Kyle, you two made our job so incredibly easy!  The love you two share for each other is contagious.  You give off a wonderful energy that made our time with you better than we ever could have imagined!  Your love story is beautiful, and I can see that you two are meant for one another.  I am so excited to photograph your wedding this year!  It will be a gorgeous day.  I cannot wait for you to see some of my many favorites from your engagement session!
